Google Wave turns pubic hair straight.
November 11th 2009, 17:00 CET by Penguinx

Well. I'm in. When do I start sprouting chest hair like a minotaur? Is my unicorn in the mail?

Maybe I need more Wavees in order to grok it. Post names to wave usernames here, I guess.

So far, Google Wave Google sucks.

I did the endless setlist in Lego RB yesterday, so I'm just going to grind out 100 more stars for the achievement and maybe do the "play all gigs" one if I'm close, and then I'm done with the game.  So, I jumped through all the hoops (and they were legion) to "export" the songs for regular RB (export as in download, but have the disc in the drive).

So now I'm down to less than half a gig free, and thinking I probably need to get a bigger hard drive. No way am I spending $160 on a 120GB hard drive.  Is eBay my best bet?   Anyone done this (especially anyone in Canada)?  I noticed that most of them are from Hong Kong.  Are they legit, and if so how long does shipping take?

Also, don't forget to check the mini-achievements (can't remember how they call it). Go to quest log and switch to the next tab (L and Space on PC).

I really hate the UI mess on the PC version.  I'm level 15 and couldn't figure that out.  Also, screens that have to be closed with ESC or Enter instead of the mouse really suck my butt.

I finished Dragon Age a few days ago. The ending is ridiculously long, I just kept thinking "stop stalling! get to the finish already!".

I also thought that the game is kind of unbalanced. The different classes are very different in difficulty, and you are limited in what people you can have in your party since some simply are so much worse than others. The difficulty of the game is odd - easy is normal, normal is hard, and anything above that is insane.
The AI and battle system are iffy, enemies behave strangely and you get frustrated at how your characters act sometimes.

There's a memory leak that - even at a recommended system - is quite noticeable after a few hours of gaming and that requires the game to be restarted every now and then to make loading times bearable and the game to run smoothly.

The rp is outstanding though, and all in all I like the game and would recommend it to anyone that is into rpg's.

I know it sounds sarcastic, but I actually DO miss hardware fault troubleshooting. Maybe because I associate it with diagnosing fried capacitors on motherboard, informing client that the they don't sell boards with this socket anymore, and that DDR2 is dirt cheap and CPUs are fast and convincing them to upgrade.

Total playtime: 52:01:25. I did do quite a lot of side quests, but not nearly all of them. Dragon Age counts total playtime even though you are tabbed out and paused though, so we can always blame that in case someone taunts us for not finishing the game "fast enough".

Sorry to hear about your computer, Matt. Changing the motherboard is a hassle, hope it turns out to be something else (that doesn't cost much). I think there has been some sloppy programmers at work in Dragon Age - the memory leak is quite noticeable for me (which turns my computer pretty warm too, besides slowing things down), and I have a friend who gets bluescreens with mem dumps at a certain point in a specific cutscene.

It's been crashing on a coworkers computer too. Boy, PC gaming just sounds more and more awesome by the minute!

I've heard those 60ish hours are standard fare, lots of people love them some Grey Wardens it seems.

I'm at 72% completion in Assassin's Creed II at about 18 hours total played time. GOTY, EOD.

It starts of really slowly, almost slower than AC1. But don't take that to mean the intro sucks. Rather than subjecting you to two hours of tutorials, the game starts you off as a teen-aged kid in Florence in 1478, and you do things that other teenagers do. Like throw rocks at eachother and kick the crap out of one another. After you do that, you sneak into some girls bedroom and get to play a QTE sex mini-game. It's probably a good hour and a half before you get to murderate anyone.

The game really doesn't open up until quite a ways in when you have access to the side quests. The side quests themselves are entirely superfluous and consist of one of three activities: running around a city like a drunken fool, beating up deadbeat husbands that are cheating on their wives, and assassinations. The assassination side-quests are all pretty much interchangeable: get quest, find target, follow target around the city, kill. I've been doing the side quests just for the sake of doing them. There really is no reason to do them at all. Well, I suppose you get money, but that's not much of a reward as it really isn't that hard to come by. I think my character currently has like 200,000 florins. The collection mini-quests range from awesome to meh. On the 'meh' side, there's hidden treasure chests which gives you money, which isn't worth the time to hunt them all down. The second collection is to collect feathers from the various towns. There's 100 of these in total and they are tied to a secondary optional sub-plot. The third type of collection is to hunt down [redacted for spoilers]. These open up a really need optional side quest that I like better than the main storyline. There's 20 of these in total and they can be really tricky to find. Especially since they're not on the map.

2009-11-21 12:22:56
Whoops, hit post too soon. Bleh.

Anyway, quick write up of the actual game: it's a lot more linear than the first one. You get an assassination target, you do a mission to find out where he's gonna be. You go to where he is, then introduce him to your girlfriend, Stabitha. There's very little 'open-endedness', for lack of a better term, in how you approach your target, which is sad. But the after-death chase sequences are just as much fun as before. Even moreso with the different types of guards. Gone are the 20 minute deathbed monologues, which have been replaced by a more standard 5-10 second death-speech. So that's a big plus.

I'll write up a little more maybe when I'm not so damn tired (I've been up way too damn late for the past 3 days playing the game).

I didn't have any problems with DA either. Until it killed my computer!

I wish I was playing it right now! And right now. And still, this moment, wish I was playing. :(

I ordered up another computer (this one was almost 5 years old now), but it won't be here until next month sometime. No computer games for me for awhile....
